WORKPLACE INJURIES
Summary:
While at work, we are all exposed to occupational hazards. Because we are often employees of the company, we are forced to trust them in protecting us from injury. Usually, we are safe. But, sometimes, companies negligently fail to prevent injuries to us. Those failures can lead to injuries ranging from severe burns due to fires and explosions, respiratory problems do to noxious fumes, to physical injuries such as broken bones, herniated disks, and torn ligaments. In such cases, you will need strong legal representation to successfully pursue your right to compensation against a potentially wealthy company. The Robert Pahlke Law Group has helped injured employees on several occasions. Some are listed below.
Cases:
1. See all of our FELA cases (FELA section).
2. Estate of Detmer v. Simmons Drilling, Inc., Dreco, Ltd.
- Oil drilling rig collapsed in high winds resulting in death of righand. On account of the inadequate maintenance and defective manufacture of the rig, plaintiff was able to recover a settlement against the manufacturer and rig owner.
3. Gerald Keller v. Buffalo Forge, LaClede Steel
- Unguarded punch press hits excessively hard steel causing the half-inch punch to fracture. A fragment of the punch hit Gerald in the face. He was left with a broken jaw and received a confidential settlement.
4. William Tanner v. United States
- Mr. Tanner worked on a 46,000 acre ranch ... The government dug pits with dozers, placed mustard gas bombs with shape charges in the pits and detonated the bombs. The government also vented 1,000 lbs. of phosgene gas bombs into the atmosphere. When conditions were favorable for the government employees (i.e. when wind was blowing away from them), they detonated the mustard gas bombs and vented the phosgene. At the same time conditions were favorable for the government, they were perilous for Mr. Tanner: the wind picked up the chemicals and blew them toward him, leaving him with serious and permanent lung damage. Confidential settlement.
5. Tom Molina v. Panhandle Coop
- Dedicated and talented ranch worker was severely burned in a propane fire and explosion caused by the defendant Panhandle Coop severing a propane line. Confidential Settlement.
